Mr. Paban Kumar Borthakur

Mr. Paban Kumar Borthakur is a retired IAS officer from the 1989 batch of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. He served as the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam from 01 January 2024 to 31 March 2024. Prior to this, he held the position of Chairman, Commerce & Industry from 20 September 2018 to 08 June 2020 and worked as Joint Secretary, Agriculture & Farmers Welfare from 12 June 2018 to 19 September 2018. He also held several roles as Principal Secretary, overseeing departments such as Personnel, Soil Conservation, Administrative Reforms, Education, Urban Development, Guwahati Development, and Science & Technology. He was additionally involved in the Finance Department during his tenure as Commissioner and Secretary. Mr. Paban Kumar Borthakur is highly regarded for his exemplary career and his dedication to the public service of Assam. His leadership and commitment have left a lasting impact on various departments in the Assam government. Paban Kumar Borthakur, senior bureaucrat currently serving as Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, has been appointed as the Chairman of Assam Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA).
